Welcome Miller Students, Families, Staff and Community Members!

I am excited to welcome our new and returning Mustangs to the 2021-2022 school year. My name is María Casey and I’m extremely honored to be joining Miller Elementary as your new principal. I am eager to be part of the Miller community where parents, teachers, and students work together to build positive relationships that support and inspire academic and social growth.

I come to Miller with 28 years of experience in education. I spent fifteen years working as a K-5 teacher. I taught in Kindergarten and first grade for seven of those years, teaching both in English and Spanish, and also working on building a solid community of learners. I moved to middle school when my own children started to transition to middle school. I spent 11 years teaching 7th & 8th grade language arts, as well as working as part of the administration team. I joined Escondido Union School District as an assistant principal at Del Dios Middle School. I am thrilled to be back in the elementary school setting.

As we begin the 2021-2022 school year, know that the safety of our school community is our number one priority! Working together we will be able to create a meaningful learning experience for our Miller Mustangs. I encourage you to take an active role in your student’s education and I thank you for your continued support.
